Grown men are weeping. People are saying this is the most devastating event in their lives. Friends and families are comforting one another. How can we go on??? And, no, I am not talking about another 9/11.
Today, Michael Jackson will finally be laid to rest. The self-proclaimed "King of Pop" is gone. The media and fans all across the globe are in a frenzy.
Why?
Sure, Jackson was an astonishing musical talent. He sold a lot of albums and had many hit records. He took music videos to a new level. Yet, does that make him worthy of all this adulation?
Did Michael Jackson make the world a better place? To put it mildly, Jackson was a very eccentric person. If Michael Jackson didn't have the money he did years ago, it's a sure bet that he would have either ended up in prison OR an institution. How many 40-plus year old men out there serve milk and cookies in bed to young boys, then sleep with them? Or pay off the families of the young boys so they don't pursue lawsuits? Or pay women to have his children and then pay the same women to stay out of the children's lives? Or dangle young infants over balconies? If that isn't enough to creep you out, let's not forget the skin whitening, the hyperbaric chamber, the attempts to buy the bones of the Elephant Man, the desire to look like Diana Ross, wearing pajamas to court, or carrying around a chimp or Emmanuel Lewis on a hip...
OK, so the "King of Pop" is gone. Jackson hadn't been on tour or had a hit record for years. He was $400 million dollars in debt. Apparently, he was abusing drugs. And there was the obvious "ick" factor regarding his lifestyle. SO ENOUGH!!! In my opinion, Jackson does not deserve the hero worship and accolades. And the media circus surrounding his death speaks volumes as to the level that our society has sunk in glorifying such a man.
Isn't there real news out there to report on? Really important stuff? Like how our country is being driven to bankruptcy by Obama & Co.? Or the war efforts in Iraq and Afghanistan? Or how our government is getting bigger and taking control over more of our lives? Or the nukes in North Korea? Or the unrest in Iran? Or the pending Cap-and-Tax (oops, I mean "Trade") bill?
And why don't we send some adulation and thanks the way of our military men and women currently serving in Iraq or Afghanistan? The people who are really deserving of our respect and admiration.
Is this the United States of America? Or the United States of Entertainment?

Let me get this straight. A black man who was acquitted is guilty in your eyes while Scott Jensen, who was convicted, should be out and walking free on a technicality.
Does that pretty well sum up your outrage, Amy?

So Grumps: Would you have allowed Michael Jackson to babysit your own children or grandchildren for a weekend?
And your strange comparison of Jackson to Scott Jensen (?) is just bizarre.

Didn't Jensen have dem company in the big scandal? MJ was black? Who would have known?

Bush and Cheney were never charged with a thing, and look what you DA dems say.

Wow - Buck - you are on a roll!
And I am waiting to hear from Grumps as to whether or not he would have allowed his children or grandchildren a few overnights at Neverland with Michael....

It's not something that would have come up, Amy. I wouldn't leave my grandkids with Jackson or Ted Nugent or Anita Bryant. It's not the kind of thing that rational people do. I wouldn't leave my grandkids alone with ANY stranger. That includes you and Foust. You both might be perfectly fine with them but it wouldn't happen.

Oh, c'mon grumps. That's the chicken way out. If your family was on vacation in California, and a call went out from Neverland while Jackson was still alive that he'd allow a few kids to stay overnight - for free - on a ranch with lots of carnival rides, exotic animals, ice cream, cookies, etc., wouldn't your kids or grandkids want to do such a thing? And you'd have to decide....yes or no. Now, if you really had to think - is Jackson one we can trust with children or not...what would you say to your kids? Bet your kids/grandkids would be excited at a free opportunity to spend time with such a popular pop star in a child's paradise! Yet, I bet you'd say no. Not because it's not "rational" to allow kids to stay with someone you don't know, but if you were really being honest, it would be because you would be concerned that the potential existed for your kids/grandkids to be molested. Plain and simple. No wiggle room on this, grumps.

Don't tell me what I'm thinking, Amy. You're not good at it.

Way to avoid answering the question, grumps! You're almost as good as Barry O. when he gets a toughie...
